Evry is a delegated municipality and the prefecture ofEssonne in France.

Understand

An old mention of the village of Évry dates back to the year 998, when the lord of the place, Ermenfred, bequeathed his property to the abbey of Saint-Maur. The place only bears the name of Évry since 1376. Rural commune on the banks of the Seine, It has only grown in size since the 1950s, with the development of new districts, in the impetus of the creations of new towns after Second World War, to become, at the dawn of the 1960s, the prefecture of Essonne.
