The Þórsmörk lies between Eyjafallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull and Tindfjallajökull im southwest of Iceland.
background
The Forest of the god of thunder Thor is a nature reserve, is nestled between glaciers and is therefore climatically favored. There are, by Icelandic standards, large birch trees and meadows with blooming flowers. On the southern side of the Krossá valley, it is wildly rugged Goðaland (Land of the Gods). The walls of the gorges are covered with moss, grass and fern. The Krossá separates these two areas, but it can be crossed with a footbridge.
Hundreds of young people celebrate summer here on the first weekend in July.
preparation
Groceries should be obtained beforehand as there is only one small kiosk in Húsadalur.
