The Ano Doliana is a stone-built, mountain village Of Arcadia. In winter it is inhabited by a few settlers, as most spend the winter in Kato Doliana and many return to it in the spring. In recent years it has experienced remarkable mild tourism development, with a significant number of visitors, especially on winter weekends.
How to get there
By road
By roadFrom Athens via the Athens-Tripoli National Road (Motorway 7 (A7) or otherwise European Road 65 (E-65)), follow the exit to Tegea / Sparta. After a distance of 3.5 km on the old road Tripolis-Sparta, follow the sign to Doliana (turn left). After 7.5 km follow the sign to Ano Doliana (right at the junction). Finally, after another 3 km, turn right at the sign to Doliana. From here, the village center is less than 5 km away.

Your travels must be made by private or rental vehicle.
What to see
- Historical and Ethnographic Museum of Doliana "The Drum of Nikitaras". This is where Nikitaras drummed up during the "Battle of Doliana". Known as "Christofili House", today it is used as a museum.
- Stream of Ai Gianni. Small waterfall.
- Chapel of Agios Ioannis. Nikitaras spent the night here before the "Battle of Doliana".
- Bust of Nikitaras.
- Tsakonas stream. The main "theater" of the Battle of Doliana, held in 1821, during the Greek Revolution.
- Small marble theater.
- Ancient marble quarry. Here, the Doliana marble, known since antiquity, is mined.
- Church of the Virgin. The central church of the village.
- Church of St. George. The oldest church of the village.
- Church of Ai Lias. Small chapel at an altitude of 1,280 meters.

Entertainment
The European path E4 in Doliana

- Chestnut Festival. It is organized at the end of October and the beginning of November, when the picking of the chestnuts in the area is completed. Guests have the opportunity to enjoy the chestnut in many different recipes for food, sweets and liqueurs.
- European long distance trail E4. The international hiking trail developed by the European Hiking Association (E.W.V.) crosses the settlement, making it a walking destination.
- Parnon Trail. 200 km of continuous walking path, within the administrative boundaries of the province of Kynouria, which starts at its northern end from Kouvlis and Ano Doliana and crosses Parnonas. A peculiarity is the combination of mountain and sea, as the route alternates from the forests of Parnonas on its outskirts, where we hike next to and on the sea knowing the protected area of the wetland Moustos. In the southern part we find Tsakonia, where even today the Tsakoniki dialect is spoken.
- Run Doliana. Since 2015, the Central Patriotic Association of Doliana has been organizing the "Doliana Mountain Half Marathon", a 21-kilometer running race, at the end of May and mid-June. It is a mountain event which has been upgraded since 2017 and is under the auspices of SEGAS. At the same time, there is a 5 km race for the less experienced runners and a 1000 meter race for children.
