Traditional foods
England is not famous for its cuisine, which is why it has highly developed foreign cuisines, especially in the big cities. These foreign cuisines are Chinese, Indian, Greek / Cypriot, but also others. However, there are some typical English dishes:
- Fish and chips - usually pieces of cod or other Atlantic fish fried in oil and french fries
- Roast beef - beef slices served with boiled or french fries, boiled carrots or other vegetables
- Yorkshire Pudding - small pie made of baked dough
- Toad in the Hole - sausage in Yorkshire pudding
- Steak and Kidney Pie - pie with pieces of beef and kidneys
- Cornish Pasty - beef and vegetables on a crust sheet
- English Breakfast - fried bacon, fried eggs, sausages, baked slices of bread, mushrooms, omelette, boiled beans in red sauce (baked beans) with coffee or tea
- Baked beans - beans in red sauce that has a rather sweet taste, usually small beans (not very large). They are also used in canned food
