The Gerakari had a population of 266 inhabitants in 2011. It is 34 km from Larissa. The name of the village is associated with the hawk. It is located near the ruined village of Vathirema and Paleokastro (ancient Lakeria). There is an old vaulted bridge that is considered the oldest in Thessaly.
