THE Amaliada is a city in the region of Ilia with a population of 18,261 inhabitants (2001 census).
Generally
In the city of Amaliada but also in the wider area there has been a significant reconstruction in the last decade and in combination with the replacement of the old houses that were damaged by the earthquakes of Bartholomew (1988) and Pyrgos (1993), the city has the largest percentage newly built houses. Most of them have gardens and courtyards, thus contributing to the improvement of the way of life. Also in the western part of the city, coastal settlements have been developed, fully organized and with increased possibilities of tourist infrastructure. During the whole year there are (in the City but also in the wider Municipality) Hotels, Room Rental Companies, as well as Catering and Entertainment Companies. A series of renovations in recent years have changed the historical and commercial center of the city, while the renovation is planned of the torrent of "Sochia" in a green area through the city. Geologically, Amaliada with its leveling floor and its good road plan allows the movement both on foot and by motorcycle or car, without particular traffic problems. The city has 6 km of bicycle paths on the beach and in the city.
