- Trinkomali (Trincomalee). — Trinkomali is the capital and largest city of the region. It is also a port of great military importance. But it is not a tourist destination
- Batikaloa (Batticaloa). - The town is built on a lagoon and has a pleasant historic center with many churches of bright colors. But its roads are dirty like the big beach northwest of the center
- Barn (Ampara). - This town is inhabited mainly by Muslims
- Potoville (Pottuvil). - To Potoville is a seaside village at the northern end of the beach Arugam
