THE Eleftheroupoli is his city Prefecture of Kavala. It is built in the northern part of the Marmara valley. It is located 16 kilometers west of Kavala and has a population of 5,555 inhabitants, according to the 2011 census.

History
In 1530 it must have had 215 Christian and 17 Muslim households. In its current form, the town was created during the Turkish occupation, from which it was liberated in 1912.
