THE Province of Almaty is a geographical region and administrative district (Almatı oblısı) located in the southwest of Kazakhstan The capital of the province is the city of Almaty which is the largest city and the former capital of the country. The province of Almaty is an attraction for foreign tourists and especially for those interested in mountain hiking in the Tian Shan Mountains.
