O Zakros and the Kato Zakros, Adravasti, Xerokampos are areas on its east coast Of Crete.

In the area are the ruins of the ancient Minoan city of Zakros and are today an important archaeological site of the Minoan civilization. It is considered to have been one of the four main administrative centers of the Minoans, while its protected port and strategic location made it an important trading center for trade to the east. The city was dominated by the palace of Zakros, which was built in 1900 BC. Χ. about, rebuilt around 1600 BC and destroyed in 1450 BC along with the other major centers of Minoan civilization. Today the ruins of the palace are visible and visitable, making Zakros a popular tourist destination.
Zakros is divided into Pano Zakros, the part that is located higher on the hill, and Kato Zakros, the part that is close to the sea. A gorge, known as the "Gorge of the Dead" crosses both the upper and lower part of the ancient city and bears its name from the numerous tombs found in the caves along its sides.
