The Kiato is located 22 km west of Corinth and is the seat of the Municipality of Sikyonia. The city's economy is based mainly on trade, but due to its coastal location and short distance from Athens, it attracts a large number of holidaymakers during the summer months.

History
This city has existed since the Mycenaean years under the name of Sikyon and experienced great prosperity mainly from the 5th to the 2nd BC. century, when the tyrant of the city was Cleisthenes. He promoted great artists, most notably the sculptor Lysippos. The ancient theater of the city survives to this day, which hosts performances during the summer months and every year a world meeting of ancient drama takes place.

How to get there
Access to Kiato is easy, as it is served by KTEL buses from Athena every hour and from Corinth every half. There is also a suburban railway station, running every hour from Athens.

An early Christian basilica of the 5th century has been excavated in the thicket of Panagia Kiato. The archeological site of ancient Sikyon and the museum are located in the municipal district of Ancient Sikyon (Vasiliko), about 4 km southwest of Kiato.
