The Copper (Slovenian Koper, Italian Capodistria, Croatian Kopar) is a seaside town and its main port Slovenia, very close to the border with Italy and has a population of 23,849 inhabitants.

The municipality of Koper is one of the municipalities where bilingualism has been officially established (Slovenian and Italian) due to the close historical ties but also the fact that the area is permanently inhabited by a significant number of Italian-speaking inhabitants. Bilingualism applies to all areas of public life, including place names. According to the 2002 census, in addition to Slovenian and Italian, a significant number of Serbo-Croatian speakers live in the area. The staff working in the hotels know and speak English.
