Her city Lefkada is the capital of the homonymous island. It is located in the north of the island at its closest point, with the opposite coast of mainland Greece. - Medieval castle of Lefkada (It is located at the entrance of the city of Lefkada). Built by the Venetian Ioannis Orsini in the early 14th century. The castle took its name from the church of Agia Mavra which was located in the same place. This church also gave its name to the island of Lefkada for a long period of history. The castle is located on the edge of the small strait that forms between Lefkada and the opposite coast of Acarnania and is surrounded by a moat.
