Since 1852, the year in which the gilded statue of the Virgin Mary was erected on the hill of Fourier, the Fête des Lumières (Feast of Lights - unrelated to the Epiphanies of Orthodoxy) has been celebrated as a custom. The custom is to place lighted candles, in colored glass cups, in the windows of the town houses. Since 1989, the traditional celebration is accompanied by the organization of various events and spectacles under the auspices of the town hall. Also, every year an annual festival is organized in the city. In the single years the festival of contemporary art is organized, while in the evenings the dance festival is organized. Each of these two festivals is based on a specific theme each year and attracts spectators and tourists from all over the world.
