The Makrychori, Parapotamos, Evangelismos, Gonni, Itea, Tempi, Ampelakia, Elia are settlements in Regional Concepts of Larissa with a population of 2,976 inhabitants.
At a glance
The Makrychori is located 18 km north of the city of Larissa, next to the Athens-Thessaloniki National Road and 8 km from the entrance of the Tempi Strait. It belongs administratively to the Municipality of Tempi. It is located opposite the top of Kissavos, at the foot of the eastern side of Mount Karakopetra and at an altitude of 110 meters. The village was close to the Greek-Turkish border before the Balkan wars, during which it was a supply point for the Greek army.
The Γόννοι (former name Dereli or Dereli) is a town with a population of 1,909 inhabitants, according to the official Census of 2011. It belongs administratively to the Municipality of Tempi. It is located west of the Pinios river at the height of Tempi.
History
The Makrychori It was one of the last Greek villages in the area until 1912. On the ridge of Karakopetra there are old fortifications, barracks, machine guns and roads from which the Army raised its chariots, especially during the Balkan wars, because north of the village, on the south side of Olympus, was the Greek-Turkish border from 1881 to 1912. Finally in recent years with the major road construction works in the area was discovered by Archaeologists next to the Makrychori junction, a double defensive moat carved in the region of prehistoric mound, find Neolithic .
At a distance of 3 km from the site of modern Gonnos, on a hill called Kastri, are the ruins of the Ancient city of Gonnos.
