The Nydri is a coastal village of the prefecture Lefkada in GREECE. It has a population of 865 inhabitants, according to the 2001 census. It is located in the eastern part of the island and is the most famous and cosmopolitan tourist resort of the prefecture. The village became especially famous when in 1963 the shipowner Aristotle Onassis bought the opposite islet of Scorpios. Since then the village has hosted many celebrities from all over the world. In the port of the village there is today a statue of Onassis.
