South Asia - Νότια Ασία

South Asia is her area Asia

Generally

There are some commonalities in this area, mainly climate and culture.

Climate: Apart from the Himalayas, the climate is tropical, with monsoons in summer and dry winters. However, there are extremes in this climate, ie in western Pakistan the monsoons are completely non-existent and in South India, they last for six months. Sri Lanka has two monsoons, one in May and one in October / November.

Civilization: The influence of historical Indian culture is evident everywhere. Four major world religions have their origins in South Asia: Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism. Islam was later introduced by Muslim invaders who began around the 7th century and emerged during the Mongol Empire of India.

An additional layer of cultural unification of South Asia comes from the influence of British culture and especially from the frequent and increasing use of the English language as a result of the founding of the "Crown Jewel" of the British Empire before Independence in 1947, cf. British Raj.

Population density: South Asia is one of the most densely populated areas in the world - about 1.6 billion people (or about a quarter of humanity) live there. The average population density of 305 people per square kilometer is 7 times higher than the world average.
