THE Polichnitos (and Polichnitos) is a traditional settlement on the south side of Lesvos. Its characteristic is its hot baths, which look like swimming pools and date from the era of Ottoman rule. Its salt pans are also known, from which salt is still extracted. The inhabitants of Polichnitos are mainly engaged in fishing, agriculture and animal husbandry. Polichnitos has a population of 2,102 inhabitants
