History

The first historical data date back to Roman times. At the northeastern end of the village was Scapora, the Roman name of the county where Prosotsani is today. Early in the town, at a distance of 2 km, an early Christian royal church of the 5th to 6th century AD was discovered.

In July 1913 it was liberated by the Ottomans.

In 1913 and the 1920s, the Grammoustians first settled, and the refugees from Eastern Thrace, Pontus and Asia Minor, respectively.
