Generally
The inhabitants of Rizoma were initially engaged in animal husbandry. He then engaged in agricultural work (cereals, legumes, vines and garlic) and sericulture (silkworm cocoons). After the distribution of the agricultural lot in 1929, the inhabitants of the village specialized in tobacco cultivation. Today, most of the fields became olive groves.
History
The rhizome used to be called "Sklataina", a name that comes from the Slavic Slatina. With the old name the village is mentioned for the first time in a patriarchal sigil of the year 1163 AD. Since then, its history officially begins. Following a government decision to clear Greek territory of Slavic, Turkish and Albanian settlements, the village was renamed Rizoma in 1927.
