At a glance

The prefecture of Rodopi belongs geographically to Thrace. It borders Bulgaria to the north, to the west Prefecture of Xanthi, east of Prefecture of Evros and to the south it is bathed by the Thracian Sea with a coastline of 58 km. In the north of the prefecture is the eastern part of the Rhodope Mountains to which it owes its name. The capital of the prefecture is Komotini.
