THE Rome (Italian: Rome) is its capital Italy.

Rome was the largest and most important city of the Roman Empire. Within the city limits is the smallest state in the world, the Vatican, seat of the Pope. The historic center of the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

How to get there
By air
Rome has two international airports,
- Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Fiumicino. Two railway lines connect the airport with the city center. One is called "Leonardo Express" and stops at Termini station without intermediate stops. The other passes through secondary stations (Trastevere, Timburtina). The ticket costs € 14.00 and € 8.00 respectively.
Rome Airport is served by three private bus lines: TERRA VISION [1], SITBUS [2], TAMBUS [3] The bus stop is opposite terminal 3
Cotral public service buses depart from the airport to Termini Railway Station and various parts of the city. You will pay € 7 if you request the ticket to the driver, € 5 if you buy the ticket from one of the tobacconists inside the airport.
Taxis are somewhat expensive and advantageous if you are traveling in a group. You estimate 60 €, more if you arrive after midnight. Watch out for illegal taxi drivers fishing for travelers inside the airport terminals. An alternative is to book a seat in a private minibus earlier. One of them is easy private taxi.
At night only Cotral runs 4/5 routes to Termini and Timburtina stations. You will find the current schedule [4]
This small airport is served by low cost airlines such as Rian Air. TERRA VISION buses also operate here [5], of SITBUS [6] and Cotral [7]. The latter runs routes to Termini but also to the nearby Ananina metro station (End of the red line A) which takes you quickly to your destination. Keep in mind that buses pass through densely populated neighborhoods with traffic problems. So try to avoid peak hours (usually in the morning until 9am)
Tsambino Airport has an inconveniently located train station at the back. To get there you will need to take a bus (you can not reach it on foot)
By train
Rome's main train station is closed from 00:30 until 04:30. Express trains called frecce connect Rome with almost all other cities in Italy. The sooner you book a place at official website of the Italian Railways the less the ticket will cost you.
By road
Road arrival in the city is very easy, as it is said, "All roads lead to Rome". The city has a ring road.
By boat
The port of Rome is in the city Civitaveki About 40 km northwest. This port is connected to Sardinia, Corsica, Barcelona.

The Rome metro has two lines that intersect at Termini station: line "A" (red) and line "B" with a fork called "B1". Important stops on the front line are Piazza Barberini, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza del Popolo and the Vatican. The single ticket is valid for 100 minutes and only one trip, with a price of about 1.5 euros. For tourists, the daily pass is advantageous, which allows endless routes through metro and buses, with 6 euros. Although the city center is not that big, it will be very useful when you are in a hurry to go somewhere. A section of the third line "C»Opened the year 2014. However, it has no tourist significance because it does not pass through the center yet.
The bus network is dense. The itineraries, however, are significantly reduced in the evening hours and on public holidays. The company ATAC also has red buses with various tourist itineraries. You will find them all in the square of Termini station.

The main tourist spots
Cabo de Fiori (Campo Dè Fiori). The most touristic square of the city where the youth gathers every night until late
Navona Square (Piazza Navona). One of the most famous squares in Rome with amazing Fountains
Piazza di Rare (Piazza di Spagna).
Piazza del Popolo (Piazza del Popolo). In the center of the square rises the Flaminio obelisk that was once located in the racecourse of Rome. In the square is the royal Santa Maria del Popolo which was built on the tomb of Nero. According to popular tradition, the ghost of the emperor still wanders on the nearby stairs that lead to the gardens of Pinzio hill.

The Trevi Fountain. If this is your first visit to Rome, you will be amazed at the small size of the square where the imposing fountain is located.

Castle of Agios Angelos (Castel Sant'Angelo). The castle was the mausoleum of the emperor Hadrian. In March of 538 AD. the gothic guard was locked inside the castle in a last-ditch effort to resist Belisarius' army. In case of danger, the popes were transported here from their nearby mansion to the Vatican. Pope Clement VII remained in the fortress for 7 months while the soldiers of Emperor Charles V looted the city.
The main museums
There are many museums in Rome and some are considered traps set up for pure tourists. They are usually located next to more famous museums. This is the case of the museums housed in the Baths of Diocletian opposite Termini Station. So be careful not to get into the wrong museum.
The Vatican Museums (600 m from Cipro Metro Station).
Ancient Markets (Fori Romani). The main entrance to the archeological site is located opposite the arch of Constantine. The visit will keep you busy for several hours. But the ticket is valid for two days €.

There are still 900 catholic churches in Rome
Basilica of St. John in Laterano (Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano) (San Giovanni metro station on the red line A.). The church was built where it was the home of Agios Konstantinos and Agia Eleni. The complex with the temple and the adjoining mansions is a territory of the Vatican
Basilica of St. Mary the Great (Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore).

Rome has a bad reputation for "puppets", but if you use common sense, you have nothing to fear. You should pay special attention to the buses of line 64 and the rest from Termini station to Agios Petros during peak hours. Stay away from Termini Train Station and the nearby Vittorio Emanuele Square at night.
