Areas of Seoul
Jongno (Jongno, 종로) (Jongno-gu)
The historic center of the Joseon era, with the famous Joseon Palace. Bukchon has beautiful traditional houses and Insa-dong is the largest antique market in Seoul. Cheongyecheon has a river and a park that runs through the city center.
Jung (Jung, 중) (Jung-gu)
This district covers half of the historic center, and the Myeongdong and Namdaemun Market shopping areas. The area includes the train station and Mount Namsan, with the Seoul Tower.
Seodaemun-Mapo (Seodaemun-Mapo, 서대문 / 마포) (Seodaemun-gu, Mapo-gu)
These two neighborhoods are located west of Jongro and Jung, and include dozens of universities and colleges. Therefore, this area has the most active nightlife in the areas: Hongdae (홍대) and Sinchon (신촌).
Yongsan (Yongsan, 용산) (Yongsan-gu)
Here is the US military base, and the huge Yongsan electronics market. Here you will also find Itaewon (이태원), perhaps the most culturally diverse area in South Korea, home to dozens of international cuisine restaurants from around the world, countless shops selling everything, and many western pubs and bars.
Yeongdeungpo-Guro (영등포 / 구로) (Yeongdeungpo-gu, Guro-gu)
It covers Guido on the Han River, and an area on the south side is often referred to as Seoul's Manhattan. The Guru is one of the largest centers of IT companies.
Gangnam & Seocho (ang / 서초) (Gangnam-gu, Seocho-gu)
Recently became known for 'Gangnam Style', this affluent area is the glitzy center of modern Seoul, home to hundreds of glass and steel skyscrapers, neon billboards, and some of the most expensive real estate in the country.
Songpa-Gangdong (pa / 강동) (Songpa-gu, Gangdong-gu)
A residential area east of Gangnam, where you will find the Lotte World, Olympic Park, Seoul (Jamsil) Sports Complex, and the Sincheon nightlife district.
North (Nowon-gu, Seongbuk-gu, Gangbuk-gu, Dobong-gu, Eunpyeong-gu)
The North includes Eunpyeong, Seongbuk, Gangbuk, Dobong and Nowon. Mt. Bukhansan and Mt. Dobongsan area.
Southerly (Dongjak-gu, Gwanak-gu, Geumcheon-gu)
The area south of the Han River includes Dongjak, Gwanak and Geumcheon. Fresh fish can be enjoyed here at the huge Noryangjin fish market.
Eastern (Jungnang-gu, Gwangjin-gu, Seongdong-gu, Dongdaemun-gu)
Dongdaemun, Jungnang, Gwangjin, Seongdong with plenty of green and interesting cultural monuments.
West (Gangseo-gu, Yangcheon-gu)
The western region south of the Han River includes the Gangseo and Yangcheon
