Stay safe

Avoid the northern beaches when strong north winds blow. The waves are big and the waters are deep.

Health and precautions

In some years, when the winter has not rained much, in summer there is an overpopulation of wasps. Pay attention to the beaches where there is fresh water and trees but also to the taverns outside the country. Always have with you suitable preparations for any sting.

Also, the tap water in the town of Skopelos is towards brackish. You can see it both from the taste and from the slight foaming of the soap. Although it is considered safe for drinking, it is better to prefer bottled water.

Communications

Small problems

The road network is quite damaged (potholes etc) and in several places the signage is insufficient or non-existent.

Nearby destinations

There are several boats in the town of Skopelos that offer day trips to Alonissos.
