Wanrong County is located on the east bank of the Yellow River at the confluence of the Fen River and the Yellow River. It is located in the southwestern part of Shanxi Province at the junction of North China, Northwest and Central Plains, and in the northwestern part of Yuncheng City. It belongs to Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province. Wanrong County is bordered by the Yellow River in the west and faces Hancheng City in Shaanxi Province, Nanping Gufeng Mountain is connected with Linyi County and Yanhu District, Jiwang Mountain in the east is connected with Wenxi County, and the Emei Platform is adjacent to Hejin City in the north.

Wanrong County was formed by the merger of Wanquan and Ronghe counties in 1954. As of 2014, Wanrong County has a total land area of ​​1080.5 square kilometers, arable land area of ​​1.02 million mu, 14 townships, 281 administrative villages, and a population of 450,000.
