The locality was established in 1645. Aura became the new district center on January 4, 1926. At the beginning of 1928, it was rumored that there was an abundance of gold in the area, prompting a craze for gold digging. The population of the village increased sharply, leading to food shortages and famine. Since 1957, it has now acted as an urban settlement.
