Portonovo isBeninThe capital and the second largest city have a population of approximately 250,000. Although Portonovo is not far from Cotonou (an hour's drive), it is not as busy as Cotonou. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to the beach from here.
Portonovo originated from Portuguese colonizers, and today the city has significant Portuguese influence. Although the city is not large, there are many tourist attractions. Ouando District (3km north of the city center) has a large market and good nightlife.
