Open history

In March 1979, the Central Government and Guangdong Province decided to change Bao'an County to Shenzhen, under the dual leadership of Guangdong Province and Huiyang District. In November, the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to change Shenzhen City to a provincial-level city at the regional level.

On August 26, 1980, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress approved the establishment of a special economic zone in Shenzhen. Now, that day is also affectionately called "Shenzhen's birthday" by the world.

On August 26, 1980, the Fifteenth Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Fifth National People's Congress passed the "Regulations on Special Economic Zones of Guangdong Province" proposed by the State Council, approving the establishment of special economic zones in Shenzhen.

In March 1981, Shenzhen was upgraded to a vice-provincial city.

From February 24 to 26, 1984, Deng Xiaoping inspected Shenzhen for the first time and wrote an inscription for Shenzhen: "Shenzhen's development and experience have proved that our policy of establishing special economic zones is correct."

In November 1988, the State Council approved Shenzhen to implement a separate list in the national plan and gave it economic management authority equivalent to the provincial level.

In February 1992, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress granted the Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress and its Standing Committee the power to formulate local laws and regulations.

arrival

visa

The unique feature of Shenzhen is that if you are from Hong Kong, as long as you stay in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, you do not need a complete Mainland China visa. You can apply for a "special economic zone tourist visa" at the Hong Kong and Shenzhen border checkpoints. This type of visa restricts you to stay in Shenzhen, so don't expect to be able to travel to other places in mainland China with it. Citizens of almost all countries can apply for this visa; with the exception, citizens of the United States, France, the Philippines, and India are not allowed to apply, but these rules have been changing and may be allowed in the future.

Although Huanggang Port and Futian Port are only a few hundred meters apart, they are different land passages connecting different locations in Lok Ma Chau within Hong Kong. Huanggang is connected to Lok Ma Chau Control Point, which can be cleared 24 hours a day, while Futian is connected to Lok Ma Chau MTR Station.

The fare is about ¥2-9. The subway runs approximately every three minutes and the subway station closes at 23:00. Compared with other cities, Shenzhen Metro needs you to be more polite. There are some customs that foreigners are not clear about. For example, people always give way to the elderly and children. The expansion of Shenzhen Metro is very rapid. There are currently 8 lines, 198 stations, and a total mileage of 286km. The line number and name of the Shenzhen Metro are parallel.

Line 1 (Luobao Line) -From Luohu Station (Luohu Port andHongkongAt the junction) to the east-west subway line of the Airport East Station. For most attractions, this is the most convenient route. Among them, Luohu Station can be connected to Hong Kong MTR Luohu Station via Shenzhen Luohu Port and Hong Kong Luohu Control Point; the Airport East Station originally served Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport Terminals A and B, but since Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport was opened in November 2013 Transferred to the new T3 terminal on the 28th, and stopped the original A and B terminal buildings. This station still uses the name "Airport East", which caused some passengers to mistakenly believe it is a station close to the airport.
Line 2 (Shekou Line) -The east-west subway line from Chiwan Station to Xinxiu Station can be used to take a ferry or go to Shekou Ocean Park.
Line 3 (Longgang Line) -From Yitian Station, head northeast to Ssangyong Station.
Line 4 (Longhua Line) -The north-south subway line from Futian Port Station (the junction with Hong Kong) to Qinghu Station. Futian Port Station can be connected to Hong Kong MTR Lok Ma Chau Station via Shenzhen Futian Port and Hong Kong Lok Ma Chau Control Point.

Buy a ticket at the ticket machine in the central hall. This machine will give you a green round plastic coin. Put the ticket on the card reader of the inbound gate to enter the station, and put the ticket into the return gate of the outbound gate to leave the station. This machine will return old and damaged banknotes, which you can exchange at the customer service center. The most convenient way is to get a Shenzhen Pass at the customer service center. Shenzhen Pass is a stored-value card. After processing, you only need to swipe the card at the card reader at the gate when entering or exiting the station. Sometimes you can also spend in convenience stores through Shenzhentong.

In the past, unlike the subways in other cities, the exit signs of the Shenzhen subway were only in Chinese except for some large scenic spots, and the map was also only in Chinese. Therefore, for foreigners, there is a certain way to find the right exit. Difficult, but these problems were resolved when the World University Games held in Shenzhen in 2011.

Communication tips

Shenzhen people are very tolerant to the outside world, because almost all people here are from other provinces and foreigners, and the local population is sparse. Don't be stingy with your status as a foreigner, and boldly communicate with them! There is a saying in Shenzhen: "Come, you are from Shenzhen!".
