Monuments: Abrantes is a city that is minimally rich in monuments, but it does not have as much variety as others. Among the main highlights are the Castle, with the Keep, the Church of Santa Maria (now a museum) and its calm gardens, the Outeiro de São Pedro, the churches of São João and São Vicente, the Convent of São Domingos, part of it belonging to the António Botto Municipal Library, the São Lourenço and Santa Ana Chapels, among many others.

Squares: Not that they are the main attraction of the city, but they are great places to relax, have a bite to eat or simply pass by. Highlights include Praça da República, which even has a playground for the youngest, Praça Raimundo Soares, Praça Barão da Batalha, among others.

Museums: Abrantes is not exactly full of museums, but there are always some interesting ones, such as the D. Lopo de Almeida Museum (the one in the Church of Santa Maria do Castelo), the open air museums of the Iron Sculptures (Alto de Garden). Santo António) and Forja (Vila do Tramagal) and the Municipal Art Gallery (Praça Raimundo Soares). The Iberian Museum of Archeology and Art of Abrantes, not yet finished, will certainly be an attraction, but for now, some of the future pieces are shown in the Church of Santa Maria in several previews, each with a different "theme" and pieces on the other.

Leisure: Taking advantage of the Tagus river and the São Lourenço pine forest, the city has several very pleasant spaces, in contact with nature and ideas for the hot days of the Ribatejan summer. Among them are the Aquapolis (leisure space, close to the city center and next to the Tagus, which allows various sports activities and pleasant moments in your cafe with a splendid view), the River Beach of Aldeia do Mato, Albufeira do Castelo de Bode and the Urban Park of Abrantes - São Lourenço.

The city also has many viewpoints, gardens, pleasant and cultural spaces, bars, clubs, sports areas and an amphitheater (Amphitheater of São Pedro) which you can discover on the city's tourism website - website: [1] - useful and simple for everyone. The Tourist Office is located in the Largo Primeiro de Maio and can be very useful for those who want to explore the municipality of Abrantes, which has much more to see than the city itself.

The city's specialties, so close to the river, include various fish dishes, with special emphasis on grilled largemouth bass, lamprey rice and shad bread. There is also no shortage of meat and, among the various traditional dishes, the lamb, the maranhos and the ribs with migas coal stand out. But the real delight of Abrantes and the one that is heard so much is the sweets, created mostly in the convents in the area. It is worth mentioning the Abrantes straw, the bowls, the boiled honey buns and the egg lamprey, which are a delight for anyone.
