Aglona - village on Latvia, in Latgale, in the commune of Agłona (until 2009 - in the district of Preiļi), located 40 km north-east of Daugavpils.
Characteristic
In Poland and among the Latvian Polish diaspora, the city is known colloquially as "Latvian Częstochowa", due to the importance of the place in the country and the temple erected here, which proves the position of Agłona in the noble Republic of Poland.
Apart from its religious significance, the town is an important economic center in its vicinity and a transport junction. Unfortunately, the city is depopulating every year, which seriously affects its development and appearance.
