Aiuroca is a small town south of Minas Gerais, with great trails and waterfalls.

To arrive

From Sao Paulo

a) Via Dutra: after Cachoeira Paulista, enter the Cruzeiro roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the ramp Rod. Hamilton Vieira Mendes continue until Estr. Mun. Cachoeira Paulista - Cruzeiro follows the road that runs alongside this city towards Itanhandú, Passa Quatro, Caxambu, Aiuruoca.

b) Via Fernão Dias: 20 km after entering Pouso Alegre/Sta Rita do Sapucaí, go to Km 322 (exit for Heliodora, Natércia and Circuito das Águas, via MG-456) go to Lambari, take the exit for / Caxambu, BR-267, towards Juiz de Fora is a shorter way but with less signage. Another option is to go to the Campanha junction, entry 775 A on the sign: "Circuito das Águas-MG" from there go to Caxambu, go through the roundabout at the entrance of the city towards Juiz de Fora which is the road that leaves in Aiuruoca.

To go to Alagoa, a nearby town with similar attractions, there is a company of buses which makes the trip once a day, from Monday to Friday, at the times Alagoa x Aiuruoca: 7:00 am and Aiuruoca x Alagoa: 2:30 pm.

  • . It gets its name because of the three waterfalls (GOD, ME, FREE). It is on a private farm (you must ask the owner for permission to enter the trail). About 5 km from the Center and its slippery rocks require some care. 
  • . The waterfall can be visited both at the top and at the bottom, at the waterfall (30 meters). Take food to the trail!

  • . Private area with 3 thousand ha. It is within the Atlantic Forest Biosphere Reserve (formed by Serra da Mantiqueira and Serra do Mar). Matutu (sacred headwaters, in indigenous language) is located in the micro basin of Ribeirão da Água Preta and has more than 60 springs. 
  • . With a 2-hour walking trail, it is one of the largest waterfalls in the region (110 meters). 
  • . A 4h walk. It is a set of eight peaks, located in the mountain range of the same name. It has a rounded shape that develops horizontally, with several points, ending with a large rock, with an altitude of 1,976 meters. There are many water sources in it. The vegetation that surrounds the peak is virgin forest, with large trees, and cerrado fields. 
  • . The Waterfall of the Fairies is about three meters high. It forms a well approximately five meters in circumference and three meters deep. Its water is transparent, clear and cold. The water volume is reasonable, with the possibility of bathing. The surrounding vegetation is formed by dense native forest. The waterfall is located on private property and authorization is required to visit it. 
  • . The Waterfall of Batuque is located on private property. It is approximately thirty meters high and three meters wide, and there is no possibility of bathing. The water is clear, cold and transparent. The vegetation surrounding the waterfall is native forest, highlighting the presence of araucaria. The fauna is rich in birds, foxes, jaguars and wild dogs. Waterfall in Córrego do Soro, about 25 m high. The trail starts at a farm at the end of a road detour to Matutu (9 km). It takes an average of 40 minutes of walking and does not present great difficulty.
