Almirante - Almirante

Almirante is a city in Panama, in the province Bocas del Toro.

Almirante is of little tourist importance. Mainly large cargo ships that transport bananas and other goods to Europe dock here. So for most travelers, the place is just a stopover on the way to and from Bocas del Toro. The infrastructure is very poor, there are often power outages and there is not always running water.

By bus

There is no bus stop in town, so you meet near a restaurant on a corner on the outskirts of town. This meeting point is commonly known as "el cruce" and it's very easy to get a taxi between it and the water taxi dock. There are bus connections to David and Changuinola.

There are two water taxi lines out Bocas del Torowhich takes about 30 minutes and costs about $ 5. There is also a daily car ferry (with a few exceptions) that connects Almirante with Bocas del Toro.
