Salzburg-Trieste
The Crossing the Alps from Salzburg to Trieste leads to the Mediterranean in 28 stages Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Italy. Over a total distance of 500km, a difference in altitude of 25,000m is overcome. Highlights are the national parks of Berchtesgarden Alps, Hohe Tauern and around Triglav (Slovenia's highest mountain), before the path leads to the Adriatic Sea. The Grande Traversata delle Alpi (GTA) runs on approx. 1,000km in approx. 65 stages from Piedmont on the Swiss border to the Mediterranean, near the Italy / Monaco border.
