American diner - American Diner

American diner is a type of restaurant that evolved from the mobile American fast food restaurant in the late 19th century. The "diner", as it is called in short, is associated with motorized travel in North America (trucks, cars and motorcycles). In other parts of the world, too, dinners are the traditional cornerstones of excursions and tours for friends of automobile travel. In this country these are in particular US car clubs and motorcycle clubs of all kinds.

History of the diner

The dinners developed from snack bars in the city centers, which were initially located in converted railway wagons or trailers for reasons of mobility. In the 1950s, diners were built as trailers in the Airstream design, which is still imitated today. With the increasing popularity of the automobile, the proportion of permanently erected diner buildings outside the city centers along travel routes increased. Today the diners exist with the claim of a style restaurant with traditional dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner such as: sandwiches, patty (burger), milkshakes, steak, egg variations and pancakes. Some of the better diners are based on the Airstream design today as buildings with a metal facade.

The diners that exist today distance themselves from the fast food restaurants McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's or Kentucky Fried Chicken in terms of the quality of their products and their ambience.
