Anacortes is a city in Skagit County of the US state Washington. The city is located on Fidalgo Island, which is connected to the mainland by a bridge.
background
Due to the location of Anacortes close to the center of the "rainshadow" of the Olympic Mountains mountain range (the center of the rain shadow is in Sequim), there is significantly less rain in Anacortes than in most of the other coastal regions of Washington.
getting there

Tourist Attractions
Tourist highlights are the state park "Washington Park", the lookout point in Cap Sante Park and the 1 Deception Pass Bridge, which connects Fidalgo Island to Whidbey Island. On the Whidbey side of the bridge the beautiful one closes 2 Deception Pass State Park which, strictly speaking, is no longer in Anacortes.
The 3 Washington Park is a beautiful park interspersed with forests whose paths (the Washington Park Loop and the footpaths that follow it) mostly run close to the coast and accordingly offers beautiful views of the Puget Sound with its San Juan Islands. A highlight of the park is the lookout point 4 Fidalgo Head .
