Andujar - Andújar

Andújar is a Spanish municipality of the Jaén province, Andalusia. Head of the region of the Campiña de Jaén, with almost 957 km² of surface, it is the municipality with the largest extension in the entire province. An industrious and well-connected city, it is the third most populated in the province as it has an approximate population of 40,000 inhabitants.

Its municipal term is divided by the Guadalquivir River, with the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park belonging to Sierra Morena to the north and the plain and countryside to the south.

To get

It is well served by the Andalucia highway (exit 321). It is also possible to get there by train and different bus lines that come from Jaen, Córdoba, Madrid, etc.

Activities

The last Sunday of April is the Pilgrimage of the Virgen de la Cabeza, matron of the city, which brings together hundreds of thousands of people on the Cerro del Cabezo, in the Sierra de Andújar.

During the month of September October, it is advisable to go to the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park, on the occasion of the "Berrea". In this period, the Sierra de Andujar is filled with the sounds of the deer that are in full mating season.
