The Andean region the Catamarca Province takes the west of the argentinian Province a. It is known for wide, rough plateaus as well as for its volcanoes. The highest volcano on earth, the Ojos del Salado (6,890 m) lies in this region.

While the north of the region better of San Miguel de Tucuman can be reached from, one comes to the south from San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca best go there. Both cities are connected to Buenos Aires by air and bus routes.
