Arzamas is a city ofNizhny Novgorod oblast in the region of Volga.
Understand
The city was created in 1578 by Ivan the Terrible, on a territory populated at the time by the Mordves. From 1737, Arzamas counted 7,000 inhabitants and acts as a transit center on the route to the eastern regions of Russia.
