Assinies is a small Ivorian town located south-east of the Ivory Coast. Located approximately 94 km ofAbidjan, Assinie is a seaside resort in the Gulf of Guinea.

There are beautiful houses built of wood and straw that with bricks most of the inhabitants of this town are fishermen who live between the sea and the lagoon. when crossing the Aby lagoon, there is a small lake located between very beautiful houses. This lake did not exist in the past. It was when the sea advanced and then retreated a few years ago that the water got trapped there, forming a beautiful little lake. One of Assinie’s most impressive parties is the never-ending battle between the sea and the lagoon. It is the shooting, in 1978, of part of the film The Bronzed and, then, the song of 1998, in dioula, Assinie Mafia (album Yitzhak Rabin) of the Ivorian singer Alpha blondy which launched the fame of the seaside resort.

Crocodiles, snakes, ostriches, chimpanzees, fish and other hinds, mongooses and monkeys are all animal species that you will find. Created in 1974 and made up of six islands, including the sacred island of Bosson Assoun (located somewhat out of the way and forbidden to the uninitiated), it covers an area of 550 Ha (not including the channels) and is home to 128 species of birds, forest mammals, monitor lizards and, above all, a colony of African palm fruit bats (Eidolon helvum) and manatees (Trichechus), which is an endangered species. The park is registered on the indicative list of UNESCO.
