The most beautiful half-timbered house is that of the Schala winery in the center of the village near the church.

The Schala wine is a typical Assuretic wine specialty that was developed in the 19th century by German winemakers through grafting. A few years ago, the German Manfred Tichonow took over an old half-timbered house in the town center and is the only one who still produces this wine. He uses traditional methods and equipment (wooden barrels and kvewri). The annual wine production is low, but he also makes chacha (pomace brandy) and cognac, also in small quantities.
