Inhabitants

Seenu (or Addu) is the southernmost of the atolls that make up the archipelago of Maldives.

To know

Together with Malé it is the only atoll similar to a town complete with cars, mopeds, traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.

It can be reached by an internal flight from Malé lasting about 1 hour and a half. In this atoll, far, far away from the tourist flow, it is still possible to savor the real Maldivian life and enjoy the best seabeds of all the Maldives.

Geographical notes

The length of all three major islands that make up the atoll is about 18 km.

Background

The atoll was a base of the RAF until March 1976. And since then numerous military installations still remain as well as a certain British lifestyle of the inhabitants. Several British then decided to move to live here thus forming a small Anglo-Saxon community.

How to get

By plane

Currently, the Senu atoll remains "a paradise in paradise" precisely because of the very low tourist influx and also because the conversion of its airport from domestic to international airport is slow to arrive.

A return internal flight from Hulhule to Gan costs approximately € 260.00.

How to get around

It is entirely accessible by bicycle or by car thanks to the fact that each island is connected to the other by bridges.
