Bad Ragaz is located in the Swiss Rhine Valley north of Chur. The climate here is so mild that even wine grows on the castle hill.

Bad Ragaz is located on the left bank of the Alpine Rhine. The community belongs like the neighboring towns Maienfeld and Bad Pfäfers to the tourist region Heidiland, whose promotional name is based on the children's book Heidi the writer Johanna Spyri alludes to.
