This is a quiet fishing village on the southwest coast 35 km from Savanna-La-Mar. It pulls along the main road that leads to the Black River, 20 km away.
About 3 km north on the way to Savanna-La-Mar on the Parker's Bay is the village of New Hope, but the locals only know the place as Culloden. There you will also find the Auchindon Great House. Located approximately 12 miles west of Whitehouse Belmont / Bluefields with a few small shops, simple restaurants and a police station.
The settlement is 1½ km east of Whitehouse South Sea Park. At the municipal boundary Scott's Cove it is 2½ km. There are traders selling fish on the semi-circular road there. It is 20 km to Black River.

The Beckfords owned 22 sugar cane plantations in Jamaica and were among the richest landowners in the entire Caribbean in the 18th century. At this point, however, livestock was raised, clove pepper was harvested and acacia trees were grown in between, as sun protection and export wood. Today this 1,300 acre reserve is owned by the Jamaica Petroleum Corporation. On the coast it consists partly of mangrove forest. Rare American crocodiles can be found there.
