Benahavis is a white village in the Málaga Province in the Spanish region Andalusia.

Benahavis is a white village at 150 m altitude in the valley of the Rio Guadalmina at the foot of the Montemayor mountain in the hinterland of Estepona and Marbella. The place is named after the Moorish lord of the castle Ben Havis, who owned the castle on Montemayor in the 10th century.
The village itself is nice to look at and has numerous places for excursions.
The municipality of Benahavis is very spacious and the small community has mercilessly exploited the land speculation on the Costa del Sol. On the southern municipal boundary, i.e. in the catchment area of the cities of Marbella and Estepona, gigantic urbanizations have sprung up, some of which are now rotten as giant ghost towns after the onset of the financial crisis in 2009. Above all, the urbanizations La Quinta, Los Arqueros and La Herredia north of Marbella, as well as the urbanizations La Alqueria, Marbella Club Golf Resort, Golf & Country Club Montemayor, El Paraiso Alto, Flamingo Golf Club and Benahavis Hills Country Club north of Estepona should be mentioned here. The small main town in the mountains with the town hall can only be reached with difficulty from all these monstrous outposts via the only road A7175. The country clubs dig deep into the nature of the mountain range behind the coast.

In the street
From the A7 motorway on the coast, turn right at the city limits between Marbella and Estepona onto the A7175 to Benahavis.
Coming from Ronda on the A397, you can turn right at the Los Arqueros urbanization and take secret paths to the A7175.
By boat
The nearest sea port is Málaga. Cruise ships also dock there.

From the Gran Hotel Benahavis you can walk upstream along the right bank of the Rio Guadalmina and you will soon reach a small reservoir called Presa de Guadalmina.
From the Benahavis Hills Country Club a steep hiking path leads up to the Montemayor mountain, which is not exactly high at 400 m, but is very striking, close to the coast, in front of all the other mountains. From its summit you have a good view of the Mediterranean coast to the Rock of Gibraltar.
