Blumenau is a city in brazilian State Santa Catarina. It lies in the valley of the Rua Itajaí about 60 km from its confluence with the Atlantic. The city with the German name was founded in 1850 by German immigrants under the leadership of the pharmacist Hermann Blumenau (1809-1899) founded.
