Budhanilkantha is a rural German municipality north of Kathmandu.

Tourist Attractions
- Budhanilkantha Temple. The main attraction of Budhanilkantha is the Hindu sanctuary one sleeping Vishnu (Jalakshayan Narayan). The black basalt figure is approx. 6 m long, approx. 3.5 m wide and around 1 m high. It depicts a sleeping Vishnu, who is on the nine-headed serpent Ananta rests. The actual temple may only be operated by Hindus, but the figure can be clearly seen through the vertical concrete struts. Mainly women come to worship the deity (Puja), mainly in the morning between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. and in the evening between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. In front of the temple there is a brisk trade in the daily necessities of the rural population, including religious objects, of course. Even if the temple is a Hindu sanctuary, it is also revered by the Buddhists in the area.

- Shivapuri National Park. The national park begins around 2 km north of the village around the 2,732 m high Shivapuri. The monastery is located within the park Nagi Gompainhabited by nuns.
