- 1 Kota Bharu – The state capital of Kelantan. Its name means "new city" or "new fort" in Malay.
- 2 Kuala Terengganu – The capital of the state of Terengganu, the most Muslim in Malaysia. Despite this there is no ban and alcohol is served to tourists
- 3 Kuantan – The capital of the state of Pahang has experienced a real boom, in particular thanks to tourism in the seaside resorts of Teluk Cempedak, Batu Hitam, Balok, Chenor, Pantai Sepat, Beserah, and Cherating (Club Med).
Other destinations
- 1 Perhentian Islands (Pulau Perhentian) – The islands are popular with tourists looking to get away from the modern world. Hotels are generally intended for travelers on a budget.
- 2 Redang Island (Pulau Redang) – An island less preserved and more polluted than the Perhentian Islands
- 3 Tioman Island – An island of volcanic origin with steep landscapes. Tioman is also a hotspot for scuba diving.
