trips
Probably the most rewarding excursion is to the Petrified forests (Monumento Natural Bosques Petrificados). There you can marvel at fossilized tree trunks that are millions of years old in a barren steppe landscape. There is hardly any shade, so you should definitely bring sun protection. The junction is about 20 km south of the village Fitz Roy on the Ruta Nacional 3, 80 km south of Caleta Olivia.
