Info
The city was - in contrast to its present location - originally founded in 1515 on the north coast under the name Santa Maria del Puerto del Principe. In 1528 the city was moved inland to avoid the almost continuous attacks by pirates.
The symbol of the city is a rain barrel, also called tinajon called. This is used to collect rainwater, so that it can be used later. These barrels can be found literally everywhere, as a monument or for real use.
