the Canterbury is a region ofsouth island of the New Zealand. This article is about the Canterbury administrative region excluding Kaikoura which is dealt with in the tourist region of Marlborough. The coasts of the region are known to be an important passageway for large cetaceans. Whale Watching has therefore become the most popular activity.
Understand
It is the most populous region of the South Island and that of the most populous city of the South Island: Christchurch. It is above all large agricultural plains with a mild climate. But Canterbury also includes New Zealand's highest mountains with Aoraki/ Mount Cook, large glacial lakes like the lake tekapo and exceptional coastal landscapes at the banks peninsula.
